Distinguishing Between Organizations and Projects

We want to ensure that the experience with our platform, Studio, is as seamless and straightforward as possible. To that end, we'd like to provide you with important guidance regarding the structure of your account and the best practices for organizing your devices.

In Studio, the Organization serves as the primary Customer Account. It's the hub for all the billing, subscriptions, and interactions with our platform. However, we've noticed instances where users have created additional Organizations, which can lead to unnecessary complications in billing and subscriptions.

Instead of creating additional Organizations, we strongly encourage the users to consider using Projects. Projects are a powerful tool designed to help better organize the devices within the existing Organization. They serve as sub-level entities that allow you to group sensors for installations, sites, customers, or specific activities. By utilizing Projects, you can efficiently manage and categorize your devices without the added complexity of multiple Customer Accounts.


Here are some key reasons to opt for Projects over additional Organizations:

  • Billing Clarity: A single Organization centralizes the billing and subscription management, preventing confusion and potential errors. Creating multiple Organizations introduces complexities that can hinder the ability to keep track of costs accurately.
  • Efficient Management: By centralizing all your devices within a single Organization, one ensures that the subscription management remains efficient. This eliminates the need to juggle multiple subscriptions associated with different Organizations.
  • Simplified User Access: Having all devices under a single Organization makes it easier for authorized users within the Organization to access the devices they need. This promotes collaboration and data sharing without unnecessary barriers.
  • Comprehensive Data Understanding: Aggregating device data within a single Organization allows you to gain a comprehensive view of your installations. This can lead to better decision-making and insights.
