What is Boost (high power boost mode)?

Sensors and Cloud Connectors can communicate in two different radio modes.

  • Low power standard mode: The normal transmissions mode for sensors, optimized for low energy usage.
  • High power boost mode: A high energy transmission mode for sensors outside the range of a Cloud Connector to boost the communication range. This mode drains more energy from the battery and reduces the lifetime.

Sensors transmitting in boost mode have a warning sign on their signal indicators (boost icon).

Periods with boost can be seen in the Connectivity part of the detailed sensor view in Studio, as shown below. The yellow areas represent boost periods.

We recommend avoiding sensors using boost mode to maximize the sensor lifetime and have a fallback if changes in the environment temporarily degrade the radio connectivity.
