This guide will show you how to install sensors to measure the activity and open/closed state of a hinged door.
What you need
What sensor should I use?
Use the Wireless Proximity Sensor if you need real-time monitoring of when a door is opened or closed or if you need the exact time for when the door was opened or closed.
To monitor the traffic of a door with frequent use, we recommend using the wireless Counting Proximity Sensor to preserve the battery life of the sensor.
1. Install the sensor in the door frame
2. Verify the detection distance
The sensor can robustly detect objects up to 5 mm from the surface of the sensor. If the gap is too wide, you can use a spacer underneath the sensor.
|Place the sensor on the edge of the door frame when the door or the frame is made out of metal to optimize the radio signal strength.|
Avoid the buildup of condensation and ice
Avoid the buildup of condensation and ice on the sensor as this may trigger false detections. Also, avoid placement where dust and dirt will set on the surface.
