This guide shows how to install sensors so that they can report measurements to the cloud. For larger installations, please plan before starting.
What you need
Only a sensor is required, but it is helpful to have Studio available to identify and name the sensor immediately. An online Cloud Connector to check connectivity is also recommended.
In some installations, for example, on pipes, use a suitable range extender.
Steps

Identify the sensor
Scan the QR cod+e or use the Identify Sensor by touch feature in Studio to quickly identify the sensor -
Mount the sensor
Peel the protective film from the back of the sensor and stick it directly to a dry and clean surface, or follow the installation instructions for range extenders -
Check the signal strength
Touch the sensor and verify that it reports through Studio without using Boost

Identify the sensor
Prepare the sensor you want to install and identify it by scanning the QR code as shown below. Once identified, enter a descriptive name in Studio.
No QR code on the sensor?
Early versions of the sensors were shipped without a QR code. If the sensor lacks a QR code, identify using the Identify Sensor by touch feature in Studio or reading the printed ID in the front.
Mount the sensor
The back of the sensor has a strong adhesive for permanent installation. Fasten the sensor by peeling the protective film from the back and sticking it to a dry and clean surface. Press the sensor firmly for a few seconds to complete the mounting.
Is adhesive not suitable?
For temporary installations or special conditions, look at adhesives for different mounting conditions.
Using a Range Extender?
Follow the installation steps for the range extender.
Mounting on metal?
If a sensor is placed directly on a metal surface, the wireless range will be severely affected, and using a Surface Range Extender, Pipe Range Extender, Water Detector Range Extender, or an Ambient Range Extender is recommended.
If an extender is not an option, increase the wireless range by placing the sensor halfway on the metal or orienting the sensor 90 degrees to the metal surface.
Check the signal strength
Tap the sensor to see its live response in Studio. The signal strength should show two bars (no signal icon) or more for a robust installation.
Installing without Cloud Connectors?
Sometimes it is more efficient to install sensors first and install the required amount of Cloud Connector later to cover the mounted sensors.
No response in Studio or boost mode?
If the sensor does not report upon touch (no signal icon) or is transmitting using boost mode (boost icon), we recommend installing an additional Cloud Connector or using sensor accessories with range extenders to improve coverage.
If the sensor continues to be offline, look at troubleshooting.
Sensor not in Studio?
Check that the correct project is selected. If the sensor is still lacking, ask your administrator for access to the project that contains the sensors.
