Depending on the sensor type, all sensors periodically send data and measurements as part of the periodic heartbeat (Heartbeat Interval - HBI), with a frequency ranging from every 60 to 2.5 minutes, depending on the sensor type.
HBI controls how often data is sent to the cloud. Within one HBI, a sensor can collect a set number of samples and send them with the HBI. The number of samples a sensor can gather depends on its type and can be adjusted by users in Studio for some sensor types.
In addition, sensors and Cloud Connectors can trigger events immediately when their state changes. This could represent anything from touching a sensor to removing an Ethernet cable from a Cloud Connector.
Heartbeat Interval Configuration in Studio
Users can modify the Heartbeat Interval configuration directly from Studio for all sensor types. Please be aware that the minimum configuration interval is 15 minutes for most sensors. However, there is an exception for Temperature sensors, which can be configured to be as low as 5 minutes, and CO2 sensors, which can be configured to be as low as 2.5 minutes.
