Most Disruptive Technologies sensors have a sealed design with a non-replaceable battery. However, some sensor types do support battery replacement. This article explains which sensors have replaceable batteries and what to do if your sensor stops working early.
Who is this article for?
Anyone using DT sensors who wants to know whether their sensor's battery can be replaced, or who has a sensor that appears to have run out of battery.
Sensors with replaceable batteries
Most tiny sensors have a sealed design, which means the battery cannot be replaced. However, the following sensors come with replaceable batteries:
For all other sensor types, the battery is built into the sensor and cannot be swapped out. When the battery runs out, the sensor will need to be replaced.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
Q: My sensor stopped working earlier than expected. What should I do?
A: If you believe your sensor stopped working prematurely, check our Troubleshooting guide. The issue may not be battery-related; there could be connectivity or configuration factors at play.
Q: Can I open a sealed sensor to replace the battery myself?
A: No. Sensors with sealed designs are not intended to be opened. Attempting to do so may damage the sensor and void any warranty.
