Network blocking error message in Studio

Studio uses Server-Sent Events (SSE) to stream live sensor data to your browser. If your network blocks this type of connection, you may see a network blocking error banner in Studio and experience missing live updates or sensor animations.

Who is this article for?

Studio users who see a network blocking error banner or notice that live sensor data and the Identify by Touch feature are not working as expected.

Why this happens

SSE is a standard web protocol communicating over port 443. However, some network environments can interrupt it:

  • Network security products blocking standard web protocols
  • Aggressive antivirus software proxying all HTTP traffic
  • Firewalls or antivirus products that terminate long-lasting TCP connections

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Try accessing Studio on a different network - for example, via your mobile phone's hotspot or a guest Wi-Fi network.
  2. Try accessing Studio from your mobile phone using cellular data.
  3. Try accessing Studio from a personal computer connected to the company network.
  4. Check the DT status page to rule out any ongoing service issues.

If the issue only occurs on your corporate network, your IT team may need to whitelist SSE connections or adjust firewall rules. See How to configure firewall settings for Cloud Connectors for related guidance.
