Displaying occupancy readings

There are two supported interactive card types to display and visualize occupancy data from sensors: Single sensor cards and Multiple sensor cards.

What you need

Type of occupancy

Occupied desks

Single sensor card

To show desk occupancy readings on a single sensor card, you can use our Desk Occupancy Sensor.

In a 1x1 view, the card will display the current desk occupancy status (Occupied/Not occupied).

Attention!

The sensor will typically detect if a desk is occupied within 5-10 minutes of the person arriving at the desk. Similarly, it will typically detect if a desk is not occupied within 5-10 minutes of the person leaving.

If expanded, the graph type displayed on the card will depend on the type of desk occupancy view you choose. By clicking the three dots, you can change the graph to:

  • Histogram
  • Occupied/Not Occupied

Histogram shows historical desk occupancy for the chosen time frame, which you can adjust in the upper-right corner of the dashboard. To toggle the display of the sensor’s current occupancy status on the right side of the graph, click the three dots and select "Hide/Show Sensor Status" on the upper right side of the card.

Occupied/Not Occupied graph shows the total duration of occupancy on specific dates within a selected time frame.

Multiple sensor card

We use Occupied Desks dashboard cards to display desk occupancy readings from multiple sensors.

Multiple sensor cards can display desk occupancy data from only Desk Occupancy Sensors:

Card Sensor type allowed Number of sensors allowed
Occupied desks Desk Occupancy Sensors up to 1000 sensors

A Multiple sensor card always displays Histogram view, regardless of its size and the time frame.

Occupied rooms

Single sensor card

To show room occupancy readings on a single sensor card, you can use our Motion Sensor.

In a 1x1 view, the card will display current room occupancy status (Motion/No motion status).

If expanded, the graph type displayed on the card will depend on the type of room occupancy view you choose. By clicking the three dots, you can change the graph to:

  • Motion/No motion
  • Heatmap
  • Histogram

Motion/No Motion graph displays the duration of room occupancy on specific dates and times within a chosen time frame.

Heatmap visually represents room occupancy data using colors to show activity patterns over a specified timeframe. The x-axis displays dates, while the y-axis represents hours. Colors indicate activity levels:

  • Cool colour tones (green) = low or no activity
  • Warm colour tones(yellow/red) = higher activity

The scale ranges from 0 to 60 minutes, where 0 to 30 minutes indicate low or no activity, and 31 to 60 minutes means higher activity levels.

Histogram shows historical room occupancy duration for the chosen time frame, which you can adjust in the upper-right corner of the dashboard. To toggle the display of the sensor’s current motion detection status on the right side of the graph, click the three dots and select "Hide/Show Sensor Status" on the upper right side of the card.

Multiple sensor card

We use Occupied Rooms dashboard cards to display room occupancy readings from multiple sensors.

Multiple sensor cards can display room occupancy data from Motion Sensors only:

Card Sensor type allowed Number of sensors allowed
Occupied rooms Motion Sensors up to 100 sensors

Multiple sensor card always displays current Occupied/Not Occupied status, regardless of its size and the time frame.

Creating an Occupancy card

To add a new Occupancy card, select Create new card:

  • Choose card type (single or multiple sensors)
  • Choose a name for the card (optional)
  • Pick sensor(s)
  • Set card size
  • Click Add to dashboard

You will find the newly created card in the first available position on the dashboard.
